Featured Project: The Savoy Grill

London's prestigious Savoy Hotel, home to The Savoy Grill, re-opened in October 2010 after a multi-million pound refurbishment. The restoration and design of the iconic restaurant, The Savoy Grill, was undertaken by The Russell Sage Studio who specified 3D Foils' Tortoise Shell acrylic Marble M1000 for the wall panelling.

A prominent feature within the dazzling Art Deco interior, the Tortoise Shell cladding to the walls and columns comprises over 200 cut panels backed with real gold leaf.

The Savoy Grill wall panelling featuring Marbles Tortoise Shell M1000 3D Foils Ltd provided the fabrication services to first coat the Tortoise Shell sheets with PEERAGUARD to provide extra protection from wear and tear.

The 210 various sized panels were then cut from the sheets and the edges diamond polished or bevelled for decorative butt jointing.

Working to extremely tight timescales, we and our fabrication partners delivered on time and the cut panels were couriered to the gold leaf supplier for backing and subsequent installation in The Savoy Grill.

During the course of 2010, we watched the development of the interior of The Savoy Grill from a dusty building site and structural shell, to the luxurious and elegant dining room portrayed in these photographs. The result is truly stunning.
